Facebook Has Your Call History and SMS Data

Tom Warren reporting for The Verge:

Facebook has been collecting call records and SMS data from Android devices for years. Several Twitter users have reported finding months or years of call history data in their downloadable Facebook data file. A number of Facebook users have been spooked by the recent Cambridge Analytica privacy scandal, prompting them to download all the data that Facebook stores on their account. The results have been alarming for some.

Those who are not surprised by the news coming out about the Facebook Privacy problems also find this frustrating. We do not have to participate our sign up for Facebook to have our data. New York Times was one of the news outlets to report on this.

As life is stranger than fiction, I just signed up for a Facebook account so I could connect with the local Beekeepers Association. This association has no web presence outside of Facebook. I only have one friend so far :)
