Not many cameras can compete with the Ricoh GR II on size. The Ricoh is about the height of three iPhones stacked and it has a smaller footprint than the current iPhone 6/ 7. I just picked this camera up after years of considering it. While it is clearly does not the have the same quality as my other digital cameras it has a special use. I can bring it where I normally would not bring a larger camera.
It is a basic camera with a basic menu system, which I like. There are some preset photo effects like Black and White, positive film, cross process etc. You can modify the contrast, saturation and sharpness of these presets which is nice. I added some contrast to the black and white effect and so far it is my favourite effect.
In the one day I have owned and used this camera I have only shot JPEGs. I am not into pixel peeping on a small sensor. I have larger digital cameras I can use if I need pixel power.
I went out for dinner with my wife of 14 years last night, after we looked through a library book sale ($0.50 / paper back!) and the last photo is my son at home.
